If you need more information please contact the main office at 612-798-6600.

MAP Testing

MAP testing begins September 21. The purpose of this assessment is to measure growth and inform instruction. Students in grades 1-5 will take their MAP Math and Reading tests during school between Sept 21-Oct 12. Research has shown that COVID-19 school closures led to significant learning loss for students. It is important to accurately measure student progress in order to provide students with the support they need. MAP results help our educators understand student needs. More information on MAP Testing can be found here.

Volunteers wanted for PTO fundraisers

The R-STEM PTO is looking for R-STEM community members to lead some of our various fundraisers throughout the year. There are several opportunities to volunteer and support these great programs that benefit our students, staff and R-STEM community.

Open fundraiser lead opportunities for 2022-23 include:

  • Club's Choice (prep for 2023-24)
  • Scholastic Book Fairs (fall conferences, spring conferences, end of May)
  • Gertens Greenhouse fundraiser (fall and spring)
  • Fire Station car wash (summer)
  • Book vending machine (school year)
  • Birthday signs (year-round)

Time commitment varies depending on the fundraiser.

We will also be looking for a new PTO Fundraiser Coordinator for our 2023-24 school year.

If you are interested in learning more about the fundraiser leadership opportunities, please contact Stacy Odegard at sjodegard@hotmail.com.

Donation requests for Nurse Jackson's office

Laurie Jackson, our awesome school nurse at R-STEM, is looking for the following donation items for her office.  Donations can be brought to the main office at R-STEM.

  • new water bottles (can be plain or have advertising)
  • kids' size socks
  • kids' underwear (smaller sizes 4-7 needed, both boys and girls styles)

Donation request: Mirrors for Affirmation Stations

The R-STEM PTO is supporting a project to put new Affirmation Stations in every classroom. These stations consist of mirrors surrounded with positive affirmations for our students to see and repeat back to themselves.

Here's where we need your help! We are looking for approximately 40 lightweight mirrors that are large enough for students to see themselves (so no hand-held ones, please!) If you have a mirror that you are no longer using, please consider donating it for this project!

Mirrors can be dropped off at the R-STEM front office.

Donation request: Items for STEM and Media Center

Our STEM & media center teams are stocking up on supplies for some fun projects, but they need your help! If you're cleaning out kids' rooms/closets/toy chests, consider donating the following:

  • Duplo or Lego bricks with eight or more studs (the circular bumps on the top of the brick used to connect them together)
  • Mr./Mrs. Potato Heads and accessories
  • Play-Doh tools (rollers, molds, cutters, stamps, etc.)
  • LiteBrites with colored pegs
  • Clean stuffed animals or characters that represent characters from books (Clifford, Pete the Cat, Ada Twist, etc.). They'll be used for displays in the media center on top of the shelves or in some of the cut-outs in the displays by the media center hallway.

You can bring donations to the main office and they'll be given to Kathie Glick and the rest of the R-STEM team.

Volunteers wanted for Media Center projects

Interested in volunteering at R-STEM? The media center team is looking for some volunteer support for the following projects:

  • Adding stickers to a new special collection of books. The timeline is to complete the project before the media center opens to students at the end of September.
  • Adhering labels to book bags (one per student) to be done before book check out near the end of September and delivering class sets to mailboxes or teachers.
  • Editing paperback easy reader books' information in our library system. Volunteers will receive training for this project.
  • A few regular volunteers to help shelve returned books and organize shelves. This is an ongoing need all year. Any amount of donated hours would be greatly appreciated, but ideally a 1-2 hours/week.

If you're interested in any of these projects, please fill out this Google form or contact Kathie Glick, R-STEM coordinator at kathie.glick@rpsmn.org

Birthday Signs from R-STEM

Did you know you can wish your child a happy birthday with special R-STEM yard signs? It's a fun way to celebrate them and support the PTO! Volunteers will set up the signs and pick them up. You can order 10 or 20 signs to be placed in your yard. Please give us at least two week's notice! Click here to sign up for birthday signs
