New R-STEM Principal Announced

We are excited to announce the selection of Kelly Woods as the new principal at Richfield STEM Elementary.

Principal Woods has served in Minneapolis Public Schools since 1999, most recently as the principal at Bethune Arts Elementary School. She started her career as an elementary school teacher, teaching grades 2-5 for 13 years. Following her teaching career, she worked in a variety of leadership roles including teacher advancement program mentor, lead instructional specialist, school improvement specialist, assistant principal, and more.

We feel very fortunate and excited that Principal Woods brings such broad experience and great leadership to Richfield Public Schools. Further, her strengths and passions are a great fit with the skills and priorities you asked for when providing us with feedback during the hiring process.

“I am thrilled and honored to be the new principal at Richfield STEM Elementary, where innovation and education come together,” said Principal Woods. “I can't wait to embark on this exciting journey, leading a community passionate about shaping the future through science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Together, we will inspire and empower our students to reach new heights of academic excellence and become tomorrow's leaders in the STEM fields.”

Principal Woods will start on July 1. Please join us in welcoming her to the Richfield team!

Students in class making peace signs

We believe that all students should experience academic rigor and a pace that is challenging but doable. This is what makes our Talent Development program different from a traditional Gifted and Talented model.

summer school students

Our elementary summer program was a success! Students enjoyed learning, playing games and participating in exciting, hands-on activities. As students explored and learned, they also built lasting connections with their teachers and peers, making the summer both educational and fun-filled.
