Learning Comes to Life at the STEM Expo
Learning Comes to Life at the STEM Expo
Our students embarked on an exciting journey into the world of science, technology, engineering and math at our annual STEM Expo! This hands-on event allowed students to dive into a variety of STEM fields through engaging interactive sessions designed to spark curiosity and creativity.
Throughout the day, students explored engineering by building paper rockets, wind turbines, bridges and parachutes, putting their problem-solving skills to the test. In the world of science, they dug for fossils, examined geological formations and experimented with electrical circuits to better understand conductivity and energy flow. Each activity challenged them to think critically, work collaboratively and embrace the trial-and-error nature of scientific discovery.
We were thrilled to welcome expert guest presenters, including Snapology, the Science Bros, the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Minnesota State University-Mankato. These professionals brought real-world STEM applications to life, engaging students with hands-on demonstrations and exciting experiments. Our very own STEM teachers also led sessions sharing their expertise and passion for learning.
The highlight of the day for many of our students (and staff) was the live birds-of-prey presentation from The Raptor Center. Students had the rare opportunity to meet a red-tailed hawk, a peregrine falcon and a great horned owl up close while learning about their habitats, adaptations and the importance of wildlife conservation.
This event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and support of our incredible volunteers. A huge thank you to our staff, guest presenters and community members who helped make the STEM Expo a success. Your time and effort created an unforgettable experience for our students, inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators.
We can’t wait to see what discoveries next year’s event will bring!
