Embracing a Growth Mindset with NED’s Mindset Mission

Some of our kindergarten, second and fourth-grade students at Richfield STEM Elementary had a unique opportunity to attend NED’s Mindset Mission assembly, an engaging and interactive performance designed to inspire a growth mindset. The 45-minute show used humor, storytelling, magic tricks, puppetry and yo-yo stunts to captivate students while teaching them valuable lessons about perseverance, encouragement and lifelong learning.

During the assembly, students followed NED—a cartoon character on a journey to discover his mindset—as he tackled challenges and met inspiring characters along the way. He learned to Never Give Up while overcoming obstacles on Mt. Everest, discovered the importance of Encouraging Others on a Caribbean island, and grew his brain by Doing His Best while repairing a sputtering spaceship. These adventures reinforced important life skills, showing students that struggles and mistakes are stepping stones to success.

One of the key takeaways was The Power of Yet—the idea that if students aren’t good at something, it doesn’t mean they never will be; it just means they aren’t good at it yet. The performance encouraged them to confidently take on challenges, support one another and embrace continuous learning.

The energy in the room was contagious as students cheered, laughed and engaged with NED’s journey. This exciting event had a lasting impact on our students, equipping them with the tools to approach academic and personal challenges with a growth mindset.
