Returning to In-Person Learning

Dear RPS Students, Staff and Families,

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we shifted to distance learning last week. While we had hoped to avoid that type of disruption, critical staffing shortages made the decision necessary.

We are pleased to confirm that we will be returning to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 18 (tomorrow)!

We will continue to prioritize in-person learning, as well as student and staff safety. Our ability to remain open amid currently high COVID-19 numbers will be constantly monitored through ongoing review of staffing and infection rates. If you ever want to learn more about our COVID-19 safety protocols, our COVID-19 web page is the best place to find up-to-date information.

Transportation remains our greatest concern. At this time, we anticipate we will have enough drivers to cover routes; however, this can change quickly leading to a disruption to the normal transportation schedule. This could result in rescheduled, significantly delayed or canceled routes. We are continuing to problem solve and hope to impact as few families as possible. If your route will experience any changes, you will be notified by your child’s school or the Transportation Department.

I want to add that I am extremely grateful to all of our teachers, support staff and operations team members for everything they have done to support students and classrooms this year! Without the help of everyone on the RPS team, we would not have been able to stay open as long as we did, nor would we be able to reopen as quickly.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Steven Unowsky
